Reading Comprehension Test (Required Score: 68)
20 Questions: Part of the test consists of reading passages and answering a questions based on them. The passages may also be classified according to the kind of information processing required, including explicit statements related to the main idea, secondary idea, application, and inference. Another type is sentence relationships. You'll be given two sentences and have to the relationship between the two.
Writing Skills Test (Required Score: 74)
20 Questions: One type of question in Writing Skills is sentence correction and structure. These questions ask you to choose the most appropriate word or phrase to substitute for the underlined part of the sentence. The second type of question are construction shift questions. These ask you to rewrite a sentence according to the criteria shown while maintaining essentially the same meaning as the original sentence.
Arithmetic Test (Required Scoree: 55)
17 Questions: Operations with whole numbers, fractions, equivalent fractions, and mixed numbers. Basic operations with decimals, percent, percent problems, recognition of decimals, fraction and percent equivalencies, and problems involving estimation.
Elementary Algebra Test (Required Score: 75)
12 Questions: Operations with integers, rational numbers, and the use of absolute values. Operations with algebraic expressions, operations with monomials and polynomials, evaluation of positive rational roots and exponents, simplifying algebraic fractions, and factoring. Solution of equations, inequalities, word problems, solving linear equations and inequalities, solution of quadratic equations by factoring, graphing, and the translation of written phrases into algebraic expressions.
WritePlacer (Required Score: 6) Automatically evaluates students' essays written to one of several prompts provided in the ACCUPLACER System. Students enter their essays into onscreen textbox and whne submitted for scoring, the system returns a holistic score ranges from 1 to 8 as well as feedback on six dimensions:
Purpose and Focus, Oragnization and Structure, Devlopment and Support, Sentence Variety and Style, Mechanical Conventions and Critical Thinking.
