Renewable Energy Management Advanced Certificate
Renewable Energy Technology Courses
Northeast Solar Heating and Cooling
Maine’s Gateway to Frontiers of Opportunity
Rising energy costs and climate change have created significant interest in
energy efficient technology and the use of renewable energy sources. To
reduce cost and promote a sustainable energy economy, energy efficient strategies
and the natural resources found in Maine must be utilized. This will save money,
create local jobs, keep energy dollars in the State, and encourage sustainability.
However, to facilitate this transition, the need for properly trained designers and
installers of these Maine based energy efficient systems has never been higher.
The Energy Services and Technology (EST) Center
at KVCC has been created
to meet this need and serve the region and the State of Maine as the
premiere centralized resource for education and training for energy
services and renewable energy technologies.
Renewable Energy Training Programs
KVCC is now accepting registrations for an expanded core of
Renewable Energy (RE) Training Programs.
The RE programs are designed to accommodate the needs of students, professionals,
instructors and members of the public. KVCC’s diverse RE program offerings: RE Management
Advanced Certificate, RE Technology Courses, and the Northeast Solar Heating and Cooling
Instructor Training Project, provide students an opportunity to explore any or all of the RE
disciplines they have an interest in. The learning experience is also enhanced with instruction
and hands on training in KVCC’s state-of-the-art EST Center, With this wide range of technical knowledge,
students will be prepared to determine the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible energy systems
currently available on the market.
EST Associate Degree Program
To respond to the market demand and economic necessities of a new energy economy,
KVCC is developing the Energy Services and Technology (EST) program. The
EST program will prepare students for multiple career pathways, including
entry level positions in the mechanical services/plumbing field or in engineering
technology. The EST program will offer an
Associate in Applied
Science Degree which will provide students with multiple career pathways in
the mechanical services/plumbing field. Graduates will be skilled in the installation
and design of high efficiency and renewable plumbing, heating, ventilating, and air
conditioning systems. Upon completion of the EST program, students are eligible to
pursue State of Maine licensing in plumbing, oil burner, solid fuel, propane and
natural gas and the EPA Refrigeration Certification. The EST program will begin
matriculating students in the fall of 2012.
