Kennebec Valley Community College is offering a Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump course for licensed heating or HVAC technicians, and licensed electricians, who want to further their knowledge in the installation, service, and operation of mini-split heat pumps on the market today.  This 40-hour course will provide professionals with the basics of refrigerant cycle theory and explain how the cycle produces heating and cooling.  Other topics covered in the course will be: basic electrical theory, control theory, mechanical operation of system components, and safe work practices involved in the installation of these units. Students will experience a hands-on lab component involving the installation and troubleshooting of these state-of-the-art mini-split heat pump systems. 



Must be:

    • A EPA 608 certified technician or register to take the EPA 608 Certification course following the ductless mini-spliti heat pump training.

    • and have at least one year of experience in the electrical or HVAC industry

Efficiency Maine is now offering $500 rebates through the Home Energy Savings Program on the installation of eligible high efficiency dutless heat pumps.  Heat pumps can also be part of larger energy upgrades that qualify for $1,500 in incentives.
