Peer Tutors & Academic Coaches
• Students must complete an application process to become a tutor or academic coach.
• Tutors and Academic Coaches must:
o be a current student in good academic standing (overall GPA of a 3.0 or higher) and maintain their academic standing
o have completed the specific course with a grade of B or higher
o have faculty approval or provide a transcript from a previous college indicating good academic standing and the appropriate grade for the course.
• Academic Coaches must:
o be a current student in good academic standing (overall GPA of 3.0 or higher) and maintain their academic standing
o have completed one (1) semester – twelve (12) credits of college level work
o must have effective communication skills as demonstrated in a faculty/staff recommendation
o have faculty approval.
• Tutors and Academic Coaches
o are paid every two (2) weeks
o payment is based on actual hours worked as shown on submitted bi-weekly time sheets
o will receive minimum wage (as set by the State of Maine) for their first semester and an increase of $.25 for each subsequent semester worked
o may be asked to provide assistance to small groups, individuals or workshop settings.
